Hazard’s double enough to calm Bridge pressure for Conte
Chelsea Boss, Antonio has showered praise on his forward, Eden Hazard for his heroic display in the club’s 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Monday as he equally showed gratitude to the fans for their patience.
The Blues suffered back-to-back humbling defeats to lower sides, Bournemouth and Watford in the space of few days to condemn Conte to the prospect of being the latest Manager to face the sack at the London Club.
However, the former Italy Manager’s name was sung aloud around Stamford Bridge on Monday as the individual excellence of Hazard and Victor Moses goal in between the Belgian’s was enough to secure victory for the Champions.
In the Manager’s words after the game, he said: “I think they are reading speculation, rumours on me, and for sure I am grateful to the fans for supporting me this way. Maybe in this year-and-a-half, they understand my patience and will to defend this colour, this shirt, this badge,”
The Blues moved to fourth place on the log with the race for Champions League football now closely packed as only four points separate the second placed Man United and fifth-placed Spurs.
“It’s not easy to lose two games but now we are back,” said Hazard.
West Brom loosed their momentum early in the game as a new recruit and former Chelsea forward, Daniel Sturridge limped off after only three minutes to be replaced by Jay Rodriguez.
New signing, Olivier Giroud should have hit the target in the 20th minutes after he was through on goal but his shot taken with his weaker right foot was easily parried away by West Brom stopper Ben Foster.
He, however, made amends for the miss by providing a one-two pass for Hazard to slot home the opener before Moses scored from Fabregas’s deflected pass and Hazard were rightly in position to seal things off in the second half.
